Contingent fee - A contingent fee in the United States or conditional fee in the United Kingdom is any fee for services provided where the fee is only payable if there is a favourable result. In the law, this is the "no win, no fee" system. Speaking fee - A speaking fee is payment awarded to an individual for speaking at a public event. Usually, speaking fees do not correlate with oratorical talent but are awarded on the basis of celebrity and the access thus provided. Attorney's fee - ... of legal representation that an attorney's client or a party to a lawsuit incurs. Attorney's fees are assessed in a number of ways, usually set by contract in advance of the representation, including by billable hours, flat fees, or contingent fees. Social welfare provision - Access to welfare services is usually granted on the basis of provable need, rather than simple lack of ability to pay for them. These services are often provided free of charge or at a nominal fee, with the state, ultimately the taxpayer, picking up the majority of the cost.
